Laurel focuses her practice on all aspects of family law litigation and dispute resolution, including pre- and post-nuptial agreements, divorce actions and custody actions. She also is trained in the practice of collaborative law, providing clients with solutions that emphasize cooperation and minimize conflict in the resolution of family law issues.
Since being admitted to the Kentucky Bar in 1992, Laurel has built a distinguished career representing clients with skill, integrity, and compassion. She has extensive courtroom experience and is equally adept at guiding clients toward amicable settlements that preserve relationships and protect their interests.
Laurel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a past President of the Louisville Bar Association, where she also served as President-Elect, Vice-President/Treasurer, Secretary, board member and leader of sections. Her leadership and commitment to the profession have earned her numerous accolades, including the Judge Richard A. Revell Family Law Practitioner of the Year Award and Pro Bono Service Award from the Louisville Bar Association.
Recognized by her peers for excellence in advocacy and professionalism, Laurel has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for both Family Law and Commercial Litigation; consistently selected to the Kentucky Super Lawyers, including recognition among the Top 25 Women Attorneys in Kentucky; and honored as Lawyer of the Year in Family Law in Louisville by Best Lawyers in America. She is AV Preeminent rated in Martindale-Hubbell.
Laurel is a dedicated contributor to the legal community. She has authored numerous articles and updates for the Kentucky and Louisville Bar Associations. She contributed to the Kentucky Domestic Relations Practice handbook and has served as a presenter at Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association, and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers continuing legal education programs. Her service extends to her long-term involvement with the Legal Aid Society, where for more than two decades she has served in a variety of roles including Board Chair, Board Member, committee member and volunteer, reflecting her deep commitment to access to justice and to the community.
Laurel earned her J.D., cum laude, from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, where she was recognized as a Distinguished Alumna and a recipient of the Delta Theta Phi Outstanding Member Award. She also holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Louisville.
