Melanie Straw-Boone

Melanie Straw-Boone has devoted her career to helping families through some of life’s most challenging transitions. A highly respected advocate in family law, Melanie combines compassion with a deep understanding of the law to guide clients through divorce, complex property division, high-asset matters, child custody disputes, and prenuptial agreements. She also has extensive experience handling Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), ensuring that her clients’ financial interests are protected long after the divorce is final.

Melanie is a first-generation college graduate, before going on to law school where she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisville School of Law. Melanie is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Indiana, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Kentucky and the Southern District of Indiana.

Throughout her distinguished career, Melanie has been recognized for her leadership, excellence, and service to the profession. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial lawyers, and past president of the Kentucky Chapter, an honor that reflects her deep expertise in family law. Her work has earned her numerous awards and distinctions, including recognition among America’s Most Honored Professionals (Top 1%) and Louisville Magazine’s Top Lawyers. Melanie has been selected as a Super Lawyers “Top Rated” family law attorney for the last 15 years. Melanie also has been celebrated by her peers as the recipient of several awards for her professionalism and advocacy, including the “Raising the Bar” Award from the Kentucky AAML, the Jefferson County Women Lawyers Association Achievement in Excellence Award, and the Louisville Bar Association’s Judge Richard A. Revell Family Law Practitioner of the Year Award.

When she is not working, Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband, Dan, their adult children, and her close friends. Melanie has a standing breakfast date every Saturday with her best friends (and sorority sisters) from college. Melanie enjoys cheering on the Detroit Lions and IU Football, is an avid reader, and loves to travel.
