Peter Catalano is a dedicated family law attorney licensed in both Kentucky and Indiana, known for his client-centered approach and steady, thoughtful advocacy. A graduate of the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, Peter earned his J.D. in 2017. During law school, he worked in the Robert and Sue Ellen Ackerson Law Clinic, providing legal services to underserved individuals and forming the compassionate, service-oriented foundation that guides his practice today.
After growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, Peter completed his undergraduate studies at the Honors College of the College of Charleston, earning a B.A. in Political Science. His academic and early professional experiences reflect a longstanding commitment to public service, justice, and meaningful advocacy.
A skilled litigator, Peter has been an effective advocate in the trial courts of both Kentucky and Indiana, having tried multiple cases to successful and satisfactory outcomes. Though fully prepared to litigate when necessary, he also prioritizes practical, client-focused solutions; his counsel has often led to agreed resolutions that serve his clients’ best interests while avoiding unnecessary litigation. In addition to his trial work, Peter has developed a niche in appellate advocacy, achieving successful results in both the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Indiana Court of Appeals. His combined trial, settlement, and appellate experience allow him to provide comprehensive, strategic representation at every stage of a case.
Active within the legal community, Peter was elected Chair of the Kentucky Bar Association Family Law Section for both 2023 and 2024, where he helped shape programming, resources, and policy for family law practitioners throughout the state. He has taught continuing legal education seminars on complex financial issues, evidentiary challenges, and the strategic use of discovery tools in family law litigation.
Along with his law partner, Jesse Mudd, he co-authored the chapter on maintenance (spousal support) in the Kentucky Domestic Relations Practice, Third Edition, contributing to one of the state’s leading family law treatises. His professional accomplishments have been recognized by his selection to the Kentucky Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2021 through 2025.
Outside of his practice, Peter enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling whenever the opportunity arises, and supporting community organizations and local charities. He brings integrity, compassion, and practical problem-solving to every case, helping families navigate difficult transitions with confidence and clarity.
